Emma Bailey made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Brevard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Polk County only posted a batting average of .214.
Brevard's record is now 13-5. As for Polk County, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-6 record.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brevard will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on R-S Central at 6:00 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Polk County, they will challenge Landrum at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
