Baseball Recap: First Flight Has No Trouble Against Camden County

First Flight's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Camden County Bruins with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Nighthawks, who have now won five matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Jordan Kempton made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaron Stewart, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. He has become a key player for First Flight: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 2-5 otherwise. Fionn Reilly was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

The win snapped First Flight's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-5 record. As for Camden County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

First Flight and Camden County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. First Flight will square off against Hertford County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 253 places (226 vs. 479). Meanwhile, Camden County (ranked 196th) will meet Northeastern (ranked 420th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
