Eastland has gone 8-1 against Polo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will welcome the Marcos at 4:30 p.m. Eastland is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
On Friday, Eastland needed a bit of extra time to put away Warren/Stockton. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Warhawks.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Polo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on Milledgeville with a sharp 9-2 victory on Monday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Logan Nelson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Polo is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-11 otherwise.
At the plate, Dawson Foster and Gage Zeigler did most of the damage at the plate: Foster got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Zeigler went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Polo is 3-1 when Zeigler posts two or more runs, but 1-12 otherwise. Gus Mumford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Eastland pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Polo, their win bumped their record up to 4-13.
Eastland came out on top in a nail-biter against Polo in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Marcos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
