On Saturday, the Elkhorn Antlers faced the Crete Cardinals in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Elkhorn was the victim of a rough 85-63 defeat at the hands of Crete. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (59), Elkhorn still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Elkhorn still got an impressive performance from Colin Comstock, who scored 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Comstock has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nixon Farmer, who scored nine points.
Elkhorn's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2. As for Crete, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Elkhorn will be playing at home against Bennington at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Crete will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Schuyler at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Schuyler: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Crete has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
