The Chevak Comets can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 80-72 win over Akiachak. The victory was just what Chevak needed coming off of a 86-63 loss in their prior match.
Akiachak lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alexie Snyder, who scored 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Snyder has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Vyshonne Chingliak, who scored 25 points.
Chevak's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Akiachak, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Chevak and Hooper Bay will face off at 9:00 a.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Akiachak does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
