If the El Paso Tigers were feeling good off their 49-22 takedown of the Jefferson Silver Foxes last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. El Paso fell 47-36 to the Mustangs on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, El Paso can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 578th, while the Mustangs are ranked 143rd).
El Paso lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Natalia Thomas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 23 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amaris Ambriz, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
El Paso's loss dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Burges, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 24-6.
El Paso will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Chapin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. As for Burges, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Andress has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
