Maynard/Bromfield's Sean Peterson rumbled for the longest rushing play in Midland Wachusett - D this season in his game against Worcester Tech last week. Peterson's team topped the Eagles as he sprinted for 67 yards on the play and finished with 179 in all.
West Boylston/Tahanto extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Assabet Valley RVT, 45-14. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
West Boylston/Tahanto's dynamic duo of Steven Gould and Ben Tasker proved tough for the Aztecs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gould threw for 27 yards and one touchdown and Tasker had 19 yards receiving. Bryan Hayes helped West Boylston/Tahanto's passing attack out by catching two balls for eight yards.
Dave Tinglof's team's Gould and Hayes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gould has thrown for 620 yards this season, while Hayes, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 19 catches for 455 yards. Maynard/Bromfield's Peterson leads the league in rushing yards with 1181.
A big matchup in Midland Wachusett - D this week will be when the Lions take on Ayer. West Boylston/Tahanto is currently in first, while the Panthers are in sixth.
The Lions moved up to 55 from 81 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. West Boylston/Tahanto was able to make the jump by beating Assabet Valley RVT 45-14.
