Wooster has been on the road for two straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Sparks Railroaders at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wooster has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Friday, Wooster didn't have too much trouble with North Valleys on the road as they won 65-49.
Jared Marquicias was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with seven steals and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jamal Gaitor, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sparks struggled with assists on Friday (South Tahoe had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Sparks received a tough blow as they fell 62-44 to South Tahoe. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sparks in their matchups with South Tahoe: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Sparks got a solid performance out of Adrian Banuelos Puga, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Banuelos Puga hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaoquin Tagulao, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Wooster has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Sparks, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's matchup: Wooster have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.1 threes per game. It's a different story for Sparks, though, as they've been averaging only 4.3 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Wooster came up short against Sparks in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 46-42. Thankfully for Wooster, Orande Todd (who scored 17 points along with eight steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
