Even though the Gilbert Tigers scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, the Desert Vista Thunder still came out on top. Desert Vista managed a 63-58 victory over Gilbert. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Desert Vista also won the last time the pair played last Tuesday.
Desert Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damian (DJ) Spencer, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo (LJ) Diamond, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Gilbert lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaelen Green, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Nazir Richardson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Desert Vista is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Gilbert, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.
Desert Vista will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Desert Vista's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 17 contests. Gilbert does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
