East Union kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a 42-13 loss at the hands of the Tupelo Christian Prep Eagles. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.
Several Urchins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Lamontagne, who picked up 109 receiving yards. Will Swanson handled things on the ground, rushing for 84 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tupelo Christian Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryce Godown, who picked up 64 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 37 yards and one TD. Those 64 receiving yards gave Godown a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Micaiah Young, who rushed for 102 yards and one score on only 12 carries.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Union will face off against Mooreville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tupelo Christian Prep, they will square off against Northpoint Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
