Even though the West Cowboys scored an imposing 71 points on Tuesday, the Walnut Ridge Scots still came out on top. Walnut Ridge strolled past West with points to spare, taking the game 88-71. Given Walnut Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while West is ranked 477th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lj Foster was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Deon Johnson, who scored 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Walnut Ridge's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.3 points per game. As for West, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
Walnut Ridge will head out on the road to challenge Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Walnut Ridge is facing Independence at the right time seeing as Independence is stuck on a 18-game losing streak. As for West, they will be playing at home against South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something West surely won't give up without a fight.
