Sprayberry has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. After both having extra time off, the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets and the Marietta Blue Devils will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th. Sprayberry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Marietta is ranked 92nd).
Sprayberry pushed their score all the way to 60 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harrison.
Meanwhile, Marietta waltzed into their matchup last Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 67-54 win over Campbell. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, as Marietta did.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marietta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayla Day, who scored 28 points. Those 28 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kyann Senior, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Sprayberry has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Marietta, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Sprayberry skirted past Marietta 50-47 in their previous matchup back in November. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sprayberry since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
