After soaring to 64 points the game before, the Southwest Georgia STEM Charter Aggies were a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They were outmatched by Abbeville Christian Academy on the road and fell 77-25. Southwest Georgia STEM Charter was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-20.
Abbeville Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Javarse Turner, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Turner is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jp Sowell, who scored 19 points along with six steals.
Southwest Georgia STEM Charter's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Southwest Georgia STEM Charter will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pataula Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Abbeville Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ezekiel Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th. Ezekiel Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Abbeville Christian Academy is ranked 138th).
