After flying high against the General McLane Lancers last Friday, the Meadville Bulldogs came back down to earth. Meadville fell 57-47 to Grove City on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Meadville has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Meadville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jack Burchard. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. Burchard scored a full 44.7% of Meadville's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tate Reichel, who scored seven points along with three blocks.
Meadville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Grove City, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meadville is on the road again on Friday and play against Harbor Creek at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Harbor Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Grove City, they will head out on the road to face off against Hickory at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hickory will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
