Softball Recap: Bishop Diego Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Bishop Diego put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the Valley Christian Academy Lions get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won three matchups by 14 runs or more so far this season.

Madeline Ferries and Anna Fittipaldi made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Ferries struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Fittipaldi tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Ferries has posted since back in March of 2024. At bat, Ferries scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Fittipaldi scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That run marked the first that Ferries scored this season.

In other batting news, Tara Gregson and Penny Carroll did most of the damage at the plate: Gregson went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Carroll scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave Carroll a new career-high. Keke Flores was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Bishop Diego was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Bishop Diego pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Bishop Diego is taking a road trip to take on Santa Clara at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Santa Clara 3.5, Bishop Diego 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Valley Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bishop Diego at 3:30 p.m. on March 20th.
