Chatfield is a perfect 6-0 against La Crescent since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Gophers will head out to challenge the Lancers at 6:30 p.m. Chatfield is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Chatfield had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Cotter on Friday. The Gophers blew past the Ramblers 10-3. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Gophers considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Madyson Proper was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those RBI were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Sinn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Proper wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Chatfield lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
La Crescent hadn't beaten Wabasha-Kellogg on the road since April 21, 2016 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Lancers came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 7-2.
Addie Murilla spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nadia Woodard, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Aspen Tarrence was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Chatfield's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average this season. As for La Crescent, their record now sits at 3-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Chatfield hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like La Crescent struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Chatfield came out on top in a nail-biter against La Crescent in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gophers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
