Montoursville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Banks, who rushed for 102 yards and two scores on only 13 carries. Banks' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 102 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Eck, who threw for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Loyalsock Township played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Shamokin Area 42-7. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 301st, while the Indians are ranked 113th).
Montoursville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.4 points over those games. As for Loyalsock Township, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Montoursville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 220.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Loyalsock Township struggles in that department as they've been averaging 149.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Montoursville ended up a good deal behind Loyalsock Township when the teams last played back in October of 2024, losing 21-7. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Lancers' Dolan Harman, who rushed for 130 yards and one TD, and also caught one score. Now that the Warriors know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
