It was a good run, but the Midlothian Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to Burleson. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Midlothian came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Elks are ranked 649th).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alex Gilmore, who scored 11 points. Rorik Harrison was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Midlothian's defeat dropped their record down to 19-11. As for Burleson, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-19.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Centennial the next time they take the court. Midlothian will head out to face the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Elks will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
