The Winterboro Bulldogs will square off against the Pickens County Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Winterboro had no problem doing just that on Friday. They secured a 42-37 W over Decatur Heritage Christian Academy. Winning may never get old, but Winterboro sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Addison typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday Pickens County proved too difficult a challenge. Pickens County walked away with a 32-20 victory over Addison. The score was all tied up 12-12 at the break, but Pickens County was the (much) better team in the second half.
Pickens County's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kemaurion Plott, who threw for 121 yards and two touchdowns, and Santonio Jones, who picked up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Winterboro now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Pickens County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Winterboro suffered a grim 38-16 defeat to Pickens County in their previous meeting back in November of 2021. Can Winterboro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
