Winchester Community hasn't had much luck against Delta recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Golden Falcons will host the Eagles at 11:00 a.m. Winchester Community will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Winchester Community made easy work of Muncie Burris and carried off a 16-4 win. The Golden Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Landen Porfidio and Dravin Whitehead made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Porfidio pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Whitehead pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Porfidio went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Whitehead went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aidan Weatherhead was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Cooper Hummel was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Winchester Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Muncie Burris only posted an OBP of .414.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Delta's offense. They came up short against Pendleton Heights on Friday, falling 9-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since May 1, 2024.
Winchester Community's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Delta, their loss dropped their record down to 16-9.
Both Winchester Community and Delta just can't seem to miss. The Golden Falcons have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Delta struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Winchester Community suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Delta in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Golden Falcons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
