The North East Grape Pickers were the 54-49 winner over the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. North East fell to Mercyhurst Prep 52-46. North East has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mercyhurst Prep had a senior duo take command as Maddox Brzuz scored 16 points and Derek Bly scored seven points along with 14 rebounds. Brzuz is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Jeremy Ganska was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
North East's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Mercyhurst Prep, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
North East will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Seneca at 7:30 p.m. As for Mercyhurst Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge Fairview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
