Cathedral Prep had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Harbor Creek Huskies on Monday as they made off with an 8-2 victory. Considering the Ramblers have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Frank Thomas looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Andrew Costello was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Joe Flanagan, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
The win was the seventh in a row for Cathedral Prep, bringing their record up to 17-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Harbor Creek, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 14-8 record.
