It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Northeast Eagles challenge Fort Campbell Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
On Monday, Northeast made easy work of University Heights and carried off a 12-3 win. Considering the Eagles have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sage Ferguson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Northeast got a big performance out of Makayla Tusie, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Julie Rollins, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Northeast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .513 or higher in five consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Campbell). Everything went their way against West Creek on Monday as Fort Campbell made off with a 20-14 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Ryleigh Watry was incredible, going 4-for-6 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Kolmerten, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four RBI and one double.
Fort Campbell's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Northeast, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northeast hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like Fort Campbell struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northeast couldn't quite get it done against Fort Campbell in their previous meeting on Thursday as they fell 9-6. Can Northeast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
