After a string of three wins, the Lawrence Academy Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 61-48 to Pungo Christian Academy. If Lawrence Academy was looking for revenge after losing 62-57 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Lawrence Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mari Larry, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds, and Nike Wiggins who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Wiggins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pungo Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maddox Lee, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Lee has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Quay Artis was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Lawrence Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with that win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawrence Academy will take on the Griffins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they and the Rams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Ridgecroft is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63 points per game this season.
