The DeMatha Stags will face off against the John Carroll Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. DeMatha is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
DeMatha's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Archbishop Carroll with a sharp 17-0 victory. The Stags haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Grayson Candy looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Shane Ladia was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnathan Coombs, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
DeMatha always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, John Carroll waltzed into their contest on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Eagles. Give the Patriots' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
John Carroll also got a great performance from Pierce Quinn as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Will Rhine, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Joey Coudon, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
John Carroll's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for DeMatha, their win bumped their record up to 16-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. DeMatha hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like John Carroll struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
