The Pomeroy Pirates will be playing at home against the DeSales Irish at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pomeroy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Pomeroy is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Dayton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Pirates blew the Bulldogs out of the water with an 80-20 final score. Considering the Pirates have won six matchups by more than 33 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Kyzer Herres and Rory McKeirnan. Herres rushed for 264 yards and five TDs on only 12 carries while McKeirnan rushed for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries. Herres is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last six games he's played. Treyton Kimble was another key player, gaining 108 total yards and a touchdown.
Pomeroy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 509 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 240 rushing yards in five consecutive games.
Pomeroy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Wyatt Huwe.
Meanwhile, DeSales hadn't done well against Liberty Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Irish came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 36-28. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Pomeroy better keep an eye on Cohen Wood. He was instrumental in DeSales' win, rushing for 175 yards and two scores on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 passes. Wood's longest rush was for an impressive 69 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Caleb Bingham also helped out as he racked up 112 rushing yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to DeSales' defense and their three sacks. Mateo Jiminez was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 15.
Pomeroy's record now sits at 8-0. As for DeSales, their record is now an identical 8-0.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. Pomeroy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 246.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like DeSales struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 189.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Pomeroy took their win against DeSales in their previous meeting back in October of 2023 by a conclusive 44-22 score. In that game, the Pirates amassed a halftime lead of 28-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
