Standish-Sterling moved up to 249 from 300 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Freelance. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Gladwin 49-29.
Muskegon Catholic Central was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to seventh in the league. The Crusaders vanquished Vestaburg 61-8 earlier in the week.
Sault Area's dynamic duo of Ben Formolo and Rayshon Anderson proved tough for St. Johns to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Formolo threw for 46 yards and one touchdown and Anderson had 72 yards receiving. Kyle Root helped Sault Area's passing attack out by catching three balls for 25 yards.
Alex Lewandoski was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 160 yards on six carries as Muskegon Catholic Central lost to the Redwings. Teammate Blake Sanford added to the ground attack by rushing for 56 yards.
Michael James provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Sault Area lost to St. Johns. He completed five passes for 59 yards and also ran for 106 yards.
Chavez Academy's Andres Lopez and Nate Drew have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Freelance in both passing and receiving yards. Lopez has thrown for 1997 yards this season, while Drew, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 30 catches for 788 yards. Scott Menard's team's Root leads the league in rushing yards with 1052.
Mike Holmes' team's Lewandoski needs only 34 yards against Fowler next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 116 carries Lewandoski has accumulated 966 yard this year.
Standish-Sterling made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,027 from 8,223. The improvement came about via a 49-29 victory over the Flying G's last week.
