South Point has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Kings Mountain Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in South Point's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 contests.
After soaring to a 20-point win in their last game, South Point came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Huss by a score of 62-59. The game was a 32-32 toss-up at halftime, but South Point couldn't quite close it out.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Christian Petty, who scored 12 points. Graham Williams was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Kings Mountain waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They claimed a resounding 104-70 win over Forestview on the road. Kings Mountain's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Caleb Nixon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradley Floyd, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 assists.
South Point's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9. As for Kings Mountain, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5.
South Point came out on top in a nail-biter against Kings Mountain in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 84-81. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Point since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
