Ayersville has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Edgerton Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Ayersville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Ayersville strolled past Wauseon with points to spare, taking the game 45-29. Given Ayersville's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Wauseon is ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ayersville relied on the efforts of Ally Schindler, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Kiersten Manon, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Schindler is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kendra Waldron, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Edgerton's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Wayne Trace 33-28.
Ayersville pushed their record up to 17-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Edgerton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Ayersville couldn't quite finish off Edgerton when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 53-50. Can Ayersville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
