Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Colonial Forge Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Freedom 52-16 on Friday. Colonial Forge's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Freedom was led to victory by Tristan Evans-Trujillo and Jeffrey Overton. Evans-Trujillo threw for 289 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, while Overton rushed for 301 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 15.1 yards per carry. Evans-Trujillo is absolutely dominating the passing touchdown category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Freedom also got help from Carleton juju Preston who showed off his sure hands for 125 receiving yards.
Colonial Forge's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Freedom, their victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
Colonial Forge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Freedom will face off against Battlefield at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Battlefield is ranked eighth, while Freedom is ranked second).
