After a string of three wins, the Downey Christian Patriots's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost to Jordan Christian Prep on the road by a decisive 78-64 margin. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Downey Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maylon Marte. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points. Marte is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Patrick Olajuwon, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.
Diamant Blazi was nothing short of spectacular for Jordan Christian Prep: he scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blazi has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ilich Yacaman, who scored 13 points.
Downey Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Jordan Christian Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Downey Christian will take on the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Nazaret Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while the Patriots are ranked 126th).
