The Tuscarora Titans won the last time they faced the Brunswick Railroaders, and things went their way on Friday too. Tuscarora walked away with a 60-52 victory over Brunswick.
Tuscarora's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kieryn Gomez led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gomez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar Davis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Brunswick had strong showings from Andie Welsh, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 rebounds and nine blocks, and Gabby Stefanic, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Welsh is crushing the block category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Maddy Hoffman, who scored 12 points.
Tuscarora has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season. As for Brunswick, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tuscarora will take on Urbana at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Tuscarora focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Brunswick, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th.
