The Sumner Stingrays will face off against the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs at TBD on Saturday. Sumner has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sumner had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They really took it to the Sharks for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-37 victory at home. Sumner has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 23 points or more this season.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Jacob Douglas and Bryson Kearney. Douglas had a great game and scored 15 points along with seven steals and five assists. Meanwhile, Kearney did his best for the losing side, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Lakewood Ranch was able to grind out a solid victory over Newsome on Thursday, taking the game 58-47.
Sumner's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Lakewood Ranch, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-15 record this season.
