2A District 3 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Hinton extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 3 this week by beating Mangum, 45-7. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Comets.
Lindsay was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in the league. The Leopards defeated Hobart 58-41 earlier in the week.
Frederick's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. TREVOR FLORES threw for 404 and four touchdowns and GRANT HOOVER had 213 yards receiving. On the ground FLORES chipped in 77 yards. KRIS UFER helped Frederick's passing attack out by catching four balls for 73 yards.
Frederick's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bombers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. FLORES has thrown for 1305 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while HOOVER has 17 catches for 458 yards. MARCUS IBARRA leads the league in rushing with 289 yards.
A big matchup in 2A District 3 this week will be when the Bombers take on Lindsay. As it stands, Frederick is in second, while Tommy Ferguson's team is in third.
Hinton moved up to 127 from 160 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 45-7 win over the Tigers helped Chad Broughton's team improve its standing.
