The Rock Hill Blue Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They greeted the New Year with with a 77-63 win over Little Elm. The victory was nothing new for Rock Hill as they're now sitting on four straight.
Rock Hill got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dextan Hutchinson out in front who scored 18 points. The game was Hutchinson's third in a row with at least ten points. Russell Garcia was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight assists.
Despite the defeat, Little Elm saw an underclassman step up: Kensington Candler scored 22 points. Candler scored a full 34.9% of Little Elm's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camron Brown, who scored eight points.
Little Elm struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Rock Hill has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Little Elm, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rock Hill will take on Boyd at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Boyd presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rock Hill in Texas (Boyd is ranked 93rd, while Rock Hill is ranked 270th). As for Little Elm, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Braswell at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
