After two games on the road, Verde Valley is heading back home. They will take on the Orme Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Verde Valley will be strutting in after a win while Orme will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Thursday, Verde Valley was fully in charge, breezing past American Heritage Academy 48-17 on the road. That 31 points margin sets a new team best for Verde Valley this season.
Angelo Ayuel was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Teo Dickey, who scored six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Orme was beaten by Wickenburg Christian Academy 48-6 on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Orme has scored all season.
John Collins was Orme's leading scorer, having posted three points.
Verde Valley now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Orme, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-4.
Verde Valley suffered a grim 59-35 defeat to Orme in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Verde Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
