It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by First Assembly Christian at home to the tune of 56-28. Considering Middle Tennessee Christian has won eight contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Middle Tennessee Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Wilson, who rushed for 247 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Wilson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards. Another player making a difference was Yates Geren, who rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Middle Tennessee Christian pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.64 points. As for First Assembly Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Middle Tennessee Christian will head out on the road to face off against Columbia Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbia Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games. First Assembly Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
