Westview is 2-8 against Fairfield since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Warriors will face off against the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. Westview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season.
Westview fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Central Noble on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 4-3. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Brynn Bontrager spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Breanna Garrett was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Janissa Lehman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Fairfield waltzed into their contest on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They blew past the Hornets 16-3. 16 seems to be a good number for the Falcons as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Paige Park was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Park was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Fairfield got a massive performance out of Preslee Caouette, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ava Cripe, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Fairfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.
Fairfield's record now sits at 10-2. As for Westview, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Westview has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fairfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Westview couldn't quite get it done against Fairfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 as they fell 14-11. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
