3A Western Slope recap Nov. 7, 2012
Rifle extended the longest winning streak in 3A Western Slope this week by beating Eagle Valley, 52-13. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Bears.
Rifle took down the Devils 52-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ryan Moeller ran for 209 yards in the win.
Bubba Ivers provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Moffat County fell to Palisade. He completed seven passes for 116 yards and also ran for 202 yards. Ivers' favorite target this week was Ryder Seeley, who caught two passes for 48 yards.
Chris Black was the best wideout in the league this week as Delta topped Steamboat Springs. Black racked up five receptions for 83 yards. Ryan Whiteside helped Delta's passing attack out by catching three balls for 46 yards.
Demitrious Parrish put up the best numbers through the air as Battle Mountain lost to Glenwood Springs. He finished with a total of two completions for 16 yards and 10 touchdowns. Parrish's favorite target this week was Austin Tofoya, who caught one pass for 23 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Travis Lundin of the Demons is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1594. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, Damon Wells' team's Moeller has rushed for 2202 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Black. The Delta star has 49 catches for 920 yards.
The Panthers' Black is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 80 receiving yards against The Classical Academy to hit that benchmark.
Delta made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,883 from 5,349. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 35-0 victory over the Sailors last week.
