The Guilderland Flying Dutchmen will be playing at home against the Shenendehowa Plainsmen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Guilderland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Shenendehowa is ranked ninth).
Last Friday, Guilderland was the victim of a rough 35-13 loss at the hands of Shaker. Guilderland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Shenendehowa put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Colonie Central at home to the tune of 50-6. The result was nothing new for Shenendehowa, who have now won four contests by 34 points or more so far this season.
Shenendehowa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blake Mello, who picked up 135 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Mello's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. Another player making a difference was Ihsaan Alozie, who rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Guilderland's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.8 points per game. As for Shenendehowa, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
Guilderland was taken down by Shenendehowa 35-7 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Guilderland have more luck at home instead of on the road?
