It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Reagan Rattlers can now relate to. They lost to the Chaparrals on the road by a decisive 45-28 margin on Friday. Reagan's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Reagan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brad Jackson. Despite the final result, he threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jackson hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Caleb Cappuccio, who picked up 122 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Westlake can attribute much of their success to Jack Kayser, who rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns. Kayser hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for four straight games. Rees Wise was another key contributor, throwing for 217 yards and a touchdown on only 19 passes.
Reagan's loss dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Westlake, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Reagan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Westlake will be playing in front of their home fans against United at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. United is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
