The Denver East Angels are taking a road trip to take on the George Washington Patriots at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Denver East had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Rangeview on Tuesday. The Angels put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 10-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Angels in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.

Jacob Wilkerson looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Henry O'Rear was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. Mason Manley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Denver East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rangeview only posted a batting average of .130.
Meanwhile, George Washington gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Montbello 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Henry Kuntner, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two stolen bases. He is becoming a predictor of George Washington's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 4-1 (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Joseph Wiederholt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
The victory got George Washington back to even at 8-8. As for Denver East, their record now sits at 9-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Denver East has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like George Washington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Denver East couldn't quite get it done against George Washington in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Angels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
