It was a good run, but the Hanks Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. Their rough 54-33 defeat to Chapin might stick with them for a while. Hanks has struggled against Chapin recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Hanks' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sebastian Meraz, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Israel Gonzalez who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Gonzalez scored a full 36.4% of Hanks' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
It was another big night for Brandon Hymes, who scored 27 points along with four steals for Chapin. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Savion Jordan was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Hanks' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7. As for Chapin, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hanks will be home for the holidays to greet Midland at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chapin will be home for the holidays to greet Parkland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Parkland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1002nd, while Chapin is ranked 32nd).
