Suburban recap Nov. 7, 2012
Artesia moved up to 628 from 671 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Suburban. The Pioneers climbed the ranks as a result of besting Glenn 47-8.
La Mirada extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Mayfair, 28-10. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Artesia's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Francisco Galan threw for 96 and one touchdown and Cristian Rodriguez had 63 yards receiving. On the ground Galan chipped in 146 yards. Vincent Brown helped Artesia's passing attack out by catching three balls for 33 yards.
6-foot-3 quarterback Galan of Joe Veach's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1092. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, Bellflower's Ryan Hunley has rushed for 1764 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Aaron Minor. The Mayfair star has 42 catches for 515 yards.
The Pioneers led Suburban in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on the Eagles. Galan in the win.
