On Monday Riverside's undefeated season almost came to an end. They had just enough and edged out the Honesdale Hornets 3-1. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Vikings have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Riverside's win was truly a team effort as nine different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jose Sosa, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Aiden Chapman also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Honesdale only posted a batting average of .238.
Riverside's record is now 7-0. As for Honesdale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5-1.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Riverside will face off against rival Dunmore at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 1.9, the Bucks 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Honesdale is set to take on their familiar foe Western Wayne at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
