Basketball Recap: Kennedy Comes Up Short

Kennedy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the DSST: College View Wolves. Even though they lost, the Commanders' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.6 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite the loss, Kennedy still got an impressive performance from Anthony Zink, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards. The contest was Zink's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Xavier Benavidez, who went 5 of 11 en route to 11 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Kennedy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead DSST: College View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaias Tomita, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 steals. Tomita is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least seven every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Sosa, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals.

Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for DSST: College View, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Kennedy will venture away from home to take on DMLK at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. As for DSST: College View, they will take on DSST: Green Valley Ranch at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. DSST: College View knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully DSST: Green Valley Ranch likes a good challenge.
