The Sequoyah Indians pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 63-58 defeat to they. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Wright City is ranked 15th).
Braileigh Threadgill continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wright City, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for her. Ali Gibson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Sequoyah and nudges their season record down to 2-6. As for Wright City, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.
Sequoyah and Wagoner will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wright City and Haworth will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Haworth comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
