Basketball Recap: UMS-Wright Prep Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

There's no place like home for UMS-Wright Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Robertsdale Golden Bears by a score of 51-39 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.

UMS-Wright Prep found their leader in sophomore Jake Pilger, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 18 points and three steals. Jeff Holston was another key player, putting up six points.

UMS-Wright Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Robertsdale's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Koehn Turner, who posted eight points. Turner continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Washington, who had 12 points.

UMS-Wright Prep is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Robertsdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.

UMS-Wright Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-52 loss against Mobile Christian on the 20th. As for Robertsdale, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-46 defeat against Fairview on the 20th.
