Even though New Dimensions have not done well against the Liberty Chargers recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. New Dimensions skirted past Liberty 66-63. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory New Dimensions has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Dimensions to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeriel Martinez, who scored 20 points. Martinez is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Blake Ferrante, who scored 15 points.
Liberty's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tasir Best, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Best has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Genola Thermozier, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
The victory was the third in a row for New Dimensions, bringing their record for this year to 7-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Liberty, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
New Dimensions will head out on the road to take on Poinciana at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Poinciana has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 201 points over their last three matches. As for Liberty, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Discovery at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Discovery's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
