Bellevue Christian is 8-2 against Cascade Christian since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Bellevue Christian's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home while Cascade Christian has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
Bellevue Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Montesano on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 7-6.
Bellevue Christian got a good showing from Brayden Rockey, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Rockey gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Noah Chong and Luke Evenson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Chong went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Evenson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Mason Hill was another key player, going 1-for-5 with three runs.
Meanwhile, while Cascade Christian put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Vashon Island. The Cougars skirted past the Pirates 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since March 22, 2024.
Cascade Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brycen Larsen, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Those two hits gave Larsen a new career-high.
Cascade Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Bellevue Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 14-4.
Bellevue Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's match. The Vikings have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Cascade Christian, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bellevue Christian continue to outrun the ball?
Bellevue Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Cascade Christian in their previous matchup back in April, winning 5-0. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
